Sick Baby

This has been a bummer week in Lockridge land. We put Levi to bed on Sunday perfectly content and healthy only to have him wake up at 1am with a fever and a cold. He spent most of the week miserable and then so graciously shared his germs with both of his parents. We have gone through lots of Tylenol and tissues and had lots of cuddles and sleepless nights. (Wait, aren't you supposed to want to sleep MORE when you're sick?? Not my child apparently!) We're slowly recuperating and getting back to the land of the living. It's no fun having a sick kid and it's even less fun when you're sick too... Who's going to take care of me? :) Here's hoping we're on the upswing of this nasty virus!

Levi's Dedication

This past Sunday we were able to dedicate Levi to the Lord at our home church here in Redondo Beach. Both sides of our family came down to help us celebrate this event in our little guy's life and we felt so loved and blessed. Here is our fun weekend in photos:

 This is a little out of order, but we got to do some other fun things this weekend too. The weather was so nice so we headed out to the beach on Saturday morning for a little volleyball and sunshine.

We hope he grows big and tall like his Daddy so he can be good at volleyball too!

On Sunday after the service we went to Tin Roof for lunch and then went up the Getty Museum for some culture and found an excuse to just enjoy the sunshine.

We ended our Sunday with a yummy dinner at C&O's and then all the family left on Monday morning. A couple of great big shout outs: to the Bakers for letting half of our crazy family crash at their place for a couple of nights, for Charlie & Christina for making the last minute decision to drive down and be with us for the weekend, for Tim for being our go-to guy for some Lockridge family pictures and to my Mom for sharing her birthday weekend with all the madness. It was so much fun to have everyone here at one time! Thanks for driving down and being with us for this special moment in Levi's life. (The church is going to send out a video of the service so I'll try to edit it down and post that when we get it.)

5 Months

After the mad rush of the holidays, our little guy turned 5 months! It boggles my mind to look back on the little baby that he was just a few short months ago. The pictures that we have hanging in his room are from the hospital-- that 7lb. 13oz. little baby-- I don't even know him anymore. My Levi today is HUGE! He has so much personality and is such a joy to be around and I am so lucky to be his Mommy.

Even though he is constantly smiling, all I could get on camera was his signature smirk.

Our Levi went to the Dr last week for a couple more shots and a quick check up. He's weighing in at 18lbs. 2oz. and they didn't check his height again. He's starting to wear 12 month clothes and this week we had to pull out the 18 month jammies. (They're cut a little thin through the thighs and, let's be honest, that he IS my child!) 

He is getting too heavy for me to carrying him around in his infant seat so he hangs on my hip or he goes in the stroller if we're out and about. He did get his big boy car seat for Christmas and we're about ready to transition him into it. He enjoys riding in the stroller without his infant seat because he can see more and talk to things as we walk by. 

He's rolling all over the place and starting to use that as a means to get where he wants to be. He's trying so hard to crawl and we think it might be any day now that he figures it out. He is playing with his toys from Christmas and it is so fun to watch his interest in all things musical. He doesn't have any teeth yet but he constantly has something in his mouth and drool all over his face and he loves his "Sophie the Giraffe" (thanks Stephanie!). 

Because of the reflux we started him on some solid foods before we went home for Christmas and he is loving it! We started with rice cereal, which is tolerated, but now we've added apples, sweet potatoes, squash and bananas. So far apples win (big time) and bananas loose (gag inducing) and we get lots of laughs as he learns how to eat and we learn how to feed him without getting so messy he needs a bath afterwards. 

And since I posted last week that he was sleeping so well it ended that very day. For the past week we've been up way too many times at night and the poor guy just seems miserable. We're thinking it's still his reflux so we're working to try to get back on top of it again. I'm not sure if it's worse when he never slept through the night or now that we know he can/has but now he isn't? Either way, I'm tired. The funny thing is that he's such a joy to be around that no one believes his late night crying bouts. The church nursery workers are in love with him and tell us how great he is every time we see them and I just keep telling him that it's a good thing he's cute because he has everyone fooled! But he really is a smiley, happy baby and he loves to interact with anyone who gives him a little attention. In fact, he has Dave's little eyebrow wiggle down and he pairs it with his cute little smile-- it kills me every time!

And here's a quick little video of Levi practicing his rolling/crawling/rubbing his forehead in the carpet routine. This was the night we got back from vacation and we were catching up on a little "Sing Off."

Levi's 1st Christmas

Christmas was a blast this year! We got to spend two whole weeks up North with our families so we had plenty of quality time. We started in Atwater with the Lockridges and our cranky Levi who was just getting over a little head cold. He wasn't sleeping very well but he was still his cute-as-ever self during the day for Grandma and Grandpa. We took lots of walks, ate lots of cookies and even opened a few presents early!

 We even got a date night because Grandma and Grandpa Lockridge watched Levi one night! Dave and I drove into Fresno to see Charlie and Christina and so Dave and Charlie could put their new hockey gear to good use at the open stick night. Before the boys got their hockey on, Dave and I had a nice dinner at Tahoe Joe's and neither of us had to get up at walk around the restaurant or bounce our legs continuously. It was so nice! Then we met up with the newlyweds at the ice skating rink and the boys got to show off their hockey skills. They looked super cute in all the gear and Christina and I got to watch from inside the warm waiting room.

 On Christmas morning we woke up and drove to Modesto to my Grandma's house. We always do a big breakfast with all of my cousins but the breakfasts have just gotten bigger with spouses and three kids running (or in Levi's case sitting/rolling) around. Then we headed to my parents house for Christmas with the Hardens and our big Christmas dinner.

We also went to Del Osso Family Farms to go on their new sledding attraction. It was a really neat place with a ropes course, train ride, zip line, and snow sledding. We probably could have spent more time there but with 22 people in your group it can make things a little more complicated. So we sledded for a couple of hours and then went to dinner and the nearby Bass Pro Shop.

Dave and I were also able to go up to the mountains for a couple of days with Joey & Julie and the kids. Dave and Joey got to ski and Julie and I stayed back in the warm cabin and played with the kiddos. Bryan and Alison were able to come up too so we had a couple of extra pairs of hands. It snowed all day long so we were able to sneak outside and play in it for a while. Then the boys came back from skiing and took us out sledding down the middle of the street. Levi still really enjoys being outside and didn't seem to mind the cold at all.

Then we got in another date night as Grammy and Grandpa Harden took over baby duty on New Years Eve! Dave and I got to be young and fun and ring in the New Year with Crista and Mike. We met some awesome people that night, played a couple of games (Dave won one!) and then I kicked some butt playing the new Michael Jackson game on the Wii. :) We had so much fun!

Then Crista and Mike came over the next day so we could both see the little boys together. They played and entertained us all and just as I thought to take a picture- my camera died. Boo!

Then as we headed home on Saturday we realized that the Grapevine had been shut down due to snow! So we stopped off in Bakersfield with our good friends Jon & Jen and they let us crash at their house overnight. We got to introduce them to Levi, had a great dinner, played some games and then got up waited for the Grapevine to reopen. We got a phone call from our good friend who is a CHP and he called and said, "It's open! GO! GO! Go!" So we hopped in the car, dismissed all the signs that said it was still closed, and we were one of the first cars back over Monday morning.

It was a great trip home and it ended with Levi sleeping 10+ hours at night for the next five nights! We must have worn him out! We're hoping this new trend continues. Thanks to everyone for making Levi's 1st Christmas so special for us and especially to the Grandmas and Grandpas for some much needed date nights! We love you all!
