Day Without a Pacifier

Day One:
Enough is enough. Too many pictures with that silly pacifier, too many words mumbled in his mouth, too many nights of running up and down the stairs to plug him back up. Levi is officially 18 months old and we've been complaining about it since month 5. It's totally our bad and become a parenting crutch. He's whiny? Give him the pacifier. He's tired of being in the car? Give him the pacifier. It's Friday? Give him the pacifier. (Ok, maybe not the last one, but you get the point.) He has started hiding them away like a little squirrel and has been known to carry around three at a time and switch them in and out. We officially have a problem!

Last night was it. We took out the pacifier at 7pm and it's now 1pm the following day. 18 hours without the thing which will no longer be mentioned in this house. He slept through the night, made it without too much crankiness this morning, and is down for his nap all without a fuss. We were sure he couldn't live without it, but guess he proved us wrong! It just goes to show you that it was as much, if not more, our problem as it was his.

Now, I know we're not out of the woods yet {one day does not a habit break!!} but it looks like we're headed in the right direction. Fingers crossed that I found them all! :)

Watch out for pacifier theft! ;-) My grandson stole his brother's pacifier frequently. Eventually he gave it up on his own, but having a ready supply to swipe when needed protracted the disengagement.

Yes! That's one reason why we've been putting it off but, thankfully, Caleb isn't quite as attached as his big brother so I've been able to leave his in the crib for naps. Night two went well so we're on to day two! Yay!

Love it!! Well done you guys!! I could never get Chris to take one and there were times when I really wished he would! But there you go -
